Look At The Fool

Have been surfing journal entries.....and notice a common theme amongst many...."Love".....Yes, its on everyones lips these days, gotta have it, we all want it, wanna give it, don't wanna lose it......its sounding more and more like Love has same characteristic as a watermelon seed!

"Love".....What a wonderful and precise mechanism we are blessed with! Truely, it is lifes greatest enhancer!

Ah! ....but we are such apprentices with this powerful emotion. We seem inclined to add varying amounts of fear, selfishness, jealousy and greed to it. We then go on to tinker with this wonderful mechanism, love, by removing the bolts of committment, and loosening the gears of compromise. The mechanism, love, loses its precison and  once out of balance, has us wobble, stumble and fall.~ ~ ~ ~

I love you more than I care about myself

I love you, hate you, for what you are doing to my health

I love you, hate you, for all this love you make me feel

I love you darlin' cause you know I can't leave

but when you're gone

I'm little boy lost in the storm with the wolves

flames all around, I talk to myself

and pray to the rain

that this lonely curse won't drive me insane

I run into the sea, but the sea only sighs

I'll Be Your Baby Tonight

(Thanks Ann, its been awhile since I have given this one a listen)

No one can run a marathon and then go right to sleep!  Falling asleep is not a habit. It is not something we can command ourselves to do. Ever have one of those hard days....you can't wait to lay down and close your eyes......only to find, you can't fall asleep!

The world of sleep is a precious place.....a palace of silence....and the only way in is through a quiet corridor.   The finest corridor that exists to this palace, is the warm and tender touch of another. The scents, softness of touch, and the connection that allows us to become intimate with inner core.....yes, that is the "guide" I desire before entering the palace of sleep!

and who expressed it better?

"close your eyes, close the door

you don't have to worry any more

I'll be your baby tonight.

Shut the light, shut the shade

you don't have to be afraid

I'll be your baby tonight"

Pin The Tail On The Donkey

One surefire approach to infuse laughter into a childs party is to have them play "pin the tail on the donkey".

A child is handed the tail of a donkey, and is blindfolded. The child is escorted just a few steps from a a large tailess donkey that is posted on a wall. Just before the child can take its first step, the child is spun around several times~~~ and then is instructed to attach the tail!

As an adult, I muse how we all still play that game! We see our goals so clearly, we know how and what we must do... In our hands we hold the piece that will complete the picture! Yet, before we take a step, we are blindfolded by our selfishness, and spun aroun around by our emotions...and are left to wander aimlessly towards our target!

Like those children I must laugh, seeing how close I am ....and yet, through my own procrastinations, it is I who ends up wearing the tail!

To all, Have a Marvelous 2005 and hope that your tail winds up on the right donkey!

Freedom

There are some who come to this junction and ask........"is this it?.....is this what life is all about?    I have given from my heart, I have sacrificed the better parts of time.....all for this?"    Unafraid to ask they continue, "have I  been loved enough, have I been given what I deserve?, have I received  all the acknowledgement I should have?" The inner coil unwinds scattering feelings in disarray.   Making it even more difficult to establish "what is enough". For the ones who always ask,  they are rarely  satisfied, as they always focus on what should be coming to them.

"I saw a man on a wooden crutch

he called out to me and said

"why ask for so much".

I saw a woman standing

in her darkened door

she called out to me and said

"why not ask for more?".

Like a bird, on a wire

like some drunk in a midnight choir

I have tried in my way

to be free.     --Leonard Cohen  (Bird On A Wire)

First Kiss

....skating back in time I can recall that tender age of 13. I first noticed girls batting their eylids at me, calling my name cutely, and teased me for attention. I was naive in noticing that it was "nature calling". When the time came for my first kiss, I was too shy and clumbsy to live up to her expectations. Word quickly spread, I was a terrible kisser!  At 13, there are no second chances!!  My reputation preceded my boyhood charm and good looks! The girls on the block had turned stone cold on me! I was devastated...and for the next few years, I avoided being placed in a close up puckering position. (aww)

I watched T.V. shows and movies carefully.....I studied how James Bond would lock lips with his leading ladies....Gregory Peck, Cary Grant, Kirk Douglas...I watched them all, and observed. Through this careful observation I discovered that kissing was not just about lips being locked together, but it was the  intimate formation two souls, using the lips as a conduit for their passion. The passion of two souls!

Many years passed, and in one night, the phobia was laid to rest, as I fell into the eyes of another and she whispered the words into my ear..."oh Marc, where did you ever learn to kiss like that?"

"How much abuse are you willing to take

You can't tell from that first kiss

whats a sweetheart like you

doing in a place like this?".....Bob Dylan (Sweetheart Like You)

Wish there was a river I could skate away on

There is a blissful chill cutting across South Florida.....a chill that elicits memories of my youthful days in the North.  Holiday lights are illuminating the dark corners of  quiet streets....if you place your ear close enough into the wind, you can hear the laughter of children....the joy of their innocense.........somewhere in that chilly breeze are remnants of mine....just wish I could find a river that I could skate away on!
